Temporary Emergency Provisions Regarding ZoomGov Remote Proceeding Access Information (Click Here)

 

Pursuant to Standing Order No. 20-10, effective Monday, March 30, 2020, temporarily, the Bankruptcy Court Clerk’s Office public areas are closed at each courthouse location.

 

Standing Order 20-9, also effective Monday, March 30, 2020, establishes a temporary protocol for filings in Bankruptcy cases by unrepresented (pro se) persons. Unrepresented persons may use the Bankruptcy drop box located at the Alexandria, Norfolk, and Richmond divisions’ courthouses to deposit documents for filing and properly submitted payments. Clerk’s Office staff will retrieve documents from the drop boxes at 9:00 a.m., each business day.

Notice of Alexandria Division Office Closing for Inauguration Day – January 20, 2021

The Alexandria Division office for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia will be closed for Inauguration Day on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. The remaining offices within the District, however, will be open and electronic filing through CM/ECF will remain available. This day will be treated as a “legal holiday” for purposes of Fed. R. Bankr. P. 9006. This holiday is designated as “Inauguration Day” in section 6103(c) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Federal employees in the Washington, D.C. area are entitled to a holiday on the day a President is inaugurated, January 20.
