Notice of Alexandria Division Office Closing for Inauguration Day – January 20, 2021

The Alexandria Division office for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia will be closed for Inauguration Day on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. The remaining offices within the District, however, will be open and electronic filing through CM/ECF will remain available. This day will be treated as a “legal holiday” for purposes of Fed. R. Bankr. P. 9006. This holiday is designated as “Inauguration Day” in section 6103(c) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Federal employees in the Washington, D.C. area are entitled to a holiday on the day a President is inaugurated, January 20.
